Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea – Jules Verne – 1870

Reviewed by: Gretchen         Date: 5 January 2005

One of Jules Verne’s best. There seems to be a bit more attention paid to the human condition with Captain Nemo’s Captain Ahab-like delusion of immunity towards God’s laws by taking the role of, perhaps not God, but judge, jury and executioner.

The details of their ocean travels get long winded and dry unless one has a world atlas, a pencil to trace the Nautilus’ travels and a book cataloguing different ocean species of plant and animal.
