The literal translation would be “Memory of the Convent”. This is a most beautiful novel, a great love story developed against the background of the construction of the wonderful palace-monastery of Mafra (which I visited shortly after finishing the book and which is an astonishing architectural monument), as well as of one of the first serious attempts at building a flying machine (by Friar Bartolome Lourenco, a historical figure).
