I love everything by Conrad. This is his third, but first major novel, a wonderful tale about emotional manipulation, blackmail, and the real life inside a sailing ship (by someone who knew). It’s been labelled racist, but it’s anachronistic nonsense. One of the best and most terrifying descriptions of a storm at sea. Incredible metaphors and mastery of the use of language (and it was his third-language!).
